Personally, I always write one overdone, heavily analytical piece about my year in review, and future year plans. This year will be no different, but purposeful!
So I launched this blog back in February 2017, thinking I wanted to write solely about Demon Hunters, which I do enjoy, but I turned it pretty quickly to talking about WoW in general and I think that is my best work. I enjoy writing and do my best work when I can write with a jumping-off point – hence game blogging!
And then, late in 2017, I decided I was going to launch on YouTube and Twitch on top of it all.
2018 is going to be a big year for me in all three of these ventures. I’ve taken some time to relax at the end of the year, and have also been sick for the past few days (ugh!) so my plan is the first week of 2018 is going to be a building block, me setting a foundation for the coming year.
I have bold goals for the year, and we’ll see how well I do at them, but I will share them here!
-Write around 5 times a week. I don’t want to force it and write if there isn’t anything to talk about, but I think in the field of Warcraft, there will be a lot to talk about this year!
-Upload 7-9 videos a week on YouTube. I’m filming a fun backlog of videos to use now – a mix of WoW analysis videos, a few Let’s Plays of old RPGs, and some longer-form, video-essay analytical videos on gaming topics. (the first one I’m working on now is going to be about the recent news that the World Health Organization is looking at codifying gaming addiction as a disorder!) I’m also going to tighten up my format to a more traditional YouTube one, using cuts rather than uninterrupted single takes, since it should help make the videos more interesting!
-Streaming 5-6 times a week on Twitch: I enjoy streaming, and it’s fun to be freeform and chat openly. I’m going to do more streams and better streams too, with better plans and more variety.
-Go to Blizzcon 2018 – sure, it’s likely not going to be a big WoW year, but I love going to the con and hanging out, and the years without big WoW news tend to be just more fun for me, since I can focus on hanging out and meeting people.
There are a lot of personal goals too, but these are the big ones that people reading here want to hear about!
So starting next Monday, I’ll be back doing more stuff for you to enjoy – videos, streams, and blog posts! I’ve got pieces in the works for here, like the continuation of my retrospective series with Cataclysm, and some looks back at tank balance by class, since I’ve been goofing around on every tank spec now.
Also, for my 2018 predictions, here they are:
-7.3.5 will be out in two weeks
-BfA preorders will start in two weeks, with the bonus of being able to start leveling your allied race characters now (for the four races you can unlock come 7.3.5)
-BfA public testing will start by the end of January
-BfA will launch by the end of June
-There will be some sort of launch event involving Old Gods
-The expansion leveling experience is going to be a bit controversial
-We’ll have a major patch out before Blizzcon, and a plan for the next major one announced at Blizzcon
So that’s it for now! I’ll see you all soon with more content!
